Q'EU ISSE

Q'eu isse

Q'EU ISSE makes part of a trilogy of choreographies that investigates the notions of identity of the Brazilian people, in special the afro-Brazilian. Q'EU ISSE is “that I was” pronounced with a sonority of a dialect of the Portuguese language. This sonority accents the resonant influences of origin “Bantu” in the Brazilian culture. The spectacle is a result of a historical and esthetics research. The company plunged deeply in the syncretism religious/animist present in some afro festivities. That’s promoted a renewing of the hopes in the humanitarian’s values when we greeted the ancestors.
Rui Moreira explored the structure of some African dances, Afro-Brazilian dances, ritual's dances and the own movements of the interpreters for created a contemporary choreography. The dramaturgy was developed over an original sound-track with elements of the jazz and sonorities from the nature. The composer is the renowned Brazilian musician Milton Nascimento.
